Businessman, marketer and branding expert Peter Joy has been appointed as the new chair of the Rundle Mall Management Authority (RMMA).
Mr Joy brings a wealth of marketing and retail experience to the position, including starting up Adelaide advertising agency Jamshop, which boasts clients such as Mitsubishi Motors Australia, Harbour Town, OTR, Maggie Beer Products, SAHMRI and SA Water.
RMMA General Manager Amanda Grocock welcomed the appointment, saying Mr Joy would bring valuable business acumen and insight into retail and consumer trends to the role.
“The Rundle Mall Precinct is a diverse and exciting place with an authentic cultural heart. Peter’s experience and leadership will be an asset to the further development of the precinct and should fill Rundle Mall stakeholders with confidence for the future,” Ms Grocock said.
Mr Joy, who is also the Executive Chair of Brand South Australia, replaces outgoing RMMA Chair Eric Granger who is stepping down when his term expires on June 30.
Mr Joy said he was very much looking forward to his new role on the eight-member Board.
“Rundle Mall is the state’s premier retail area and the recent upgrade has seen a real transformation of the Mall and surrounding areas, bringing with it new vision and fresh ideas for the precinct,” Mr Joy said.
“I am excited about joining the Board and working with them to build on this new momentum and continuing to see the Mall prosper and grow.”
Other roles held by Mr Joy include Vice President of Global Brand Marketing for SOLA Optical, Account Director of BBDO Clemenger and several roles at Young & Rubicam including Strategy Planning Director, General Manager of Client Services and later Managing Director of the Adelaide office.
He will start his three-year term as RMMA Chair on July 1, 2016.
