Adelaide City Council is working in partnership with SA Ambulance and the Heart Foundation to increase the availability of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) for public use in in the City.
Over the next week AEDs will be installed in community centres, libraries, the Customer Centre and the Central Market; complementing existing AEDs at the Town Hall and recreational facilities.
Two public access AEDs (available 24/7) will also be installed in high use areas; Victoria Square and Rundle Mall for a 12 month trial.
The project launch was held in Rundle Mall (near the pigs) on Tuesday 14 February at 11.30am.
Councillor Martin launched the AED and heart shaped artwork (designed by emerging artist Pat Welke). Clr Martin encouraged passers-by to engage with the SA Ambulance Officers in brief CPR and AED training.
